CANopen Convergence Day on June 30
The CANopen Convergence Day will take place on June, 30th, in Lyon, France. Members and representatives of several organizations and corporations, among them CiA, EPSG, Cyberio, B&R, UXP, Step, Sprinte, and Osean, will present current and future CANopen applications in a series of talks. Since its introduction to the automotive industry in 1993, CANopen has entered more and more industry segments. Today, there is no field of industry which does not use the open, vendor-independent application protocol. The CANopen Convergence Day provides all interested parties with a unique opportunity to acquaint themselves with the technology and with possibilities for future applications of the successful protocol. Stephane Potier of B&R will present the open source solutions openPOWERLINK and openSAFETY, the first open and fieldbus-independent safety protocol worldwide. POWERLINK is also known as “CANopen over Ethernet” because it fully integrates the CANopen mechanisms. At a bandwidth of 100 MB and permitting almost unlimited cable network lengths, it is a logical solution in applications with very extensive networks and with a high data volume. More information on the program of the CANopen Convergence Day, the venue, and how to get there, as well as a registration form can be found under www.canopen-convergence.org. Attendance of the conference is free of charge.
